Flint Hills Range Burn
Category: Outdoor Scenes
Photo and caption by Brian Lingle
Every spring cattle ranchers in the Kansas Flint Hills burn off dead grass on the range to clear the way for new growth. Some people travel great distances to witness the beauty and power of these massive, controlled range fires. For those who have experienced it, images of these prairie fires evoke strong memories of the Tall Grass Prairie in Flint Hills. I captured this image just after dusk.
Location: Off of Kansas Highway 50, near the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, USA
