- Shark!
- field_caption
- I was swimming with my camera in a water housing with the intent of shooting photos of surfers when a 6-foot bull shark decided it had a better idea. It blew up on foot-long bait fish about 10 feet away and then turned and charged me on the surface. You can see a mullet fleeing in mid air on the right side of the photo. I punched the shark with my free hand, it freaked out and tail whipped me in the throat before swimming away. I then got to swim 75 yards to shore as quickly and calmly as possible.

- Yerebatan Sarai is the most unusual place I have ever seen. Most of the time it is empty, but I happened to be there when it was decorated and magical music was playing. Built in the 6th century, it’s the largest of several hundred cisterns that lie beneath the city of Istanbul, Turkey. Cisterns were typically used for water storage, and Yerebatan Sarayi once provided water for the Great Palace of Constantinople.

- Cobalt blue paints the magical city of Chefchaouen. Settled between the peaks of the Rif Mountains, this dreamscape can only be discovered by a journey through winding roads and endless almond tree fields. The streets of blue glow at sunset to the echoes of 'Call to Prayer', this village is truly a mystical gem lost in time.

- “23 de enero” is the name of one of Caracas biggest slum, spreading fast on the hills surrounding the city. Living conditions inside the shacks (called “ranchos” in Venezuela) are disastrous, they are among the most violent places in the world, and education or healthcare are not to be mentioned. On top of that, they are usually built in very steep areas improper for construction (some people shall climb the equivalent of 60 floors to reach their home), and are regulary devastated by landslipping during heavy rains. Between 1 and 3 millions people would be living in such places in Caracas.

- We set off before dawn for our sunrise trek to the mountain top Brahman Savitri Temple in Pushkar, India. This dog befriended us along the way and became our guardian at the top when 3 other dogs felt we were encroaching on their territory and blocked our path. We got to the top and saw the sunrise because of this guy!

- Fan Coral in the Sky
- field_caption
- Image captured in parcel calm waters close to the shore break looking upwards. Tucked under the reef looking upward waiting until sky is in perfect form, fish out of view, and my air bubbles dissipate to capture this image with a since of Fan Coral in the sky. This was a long underwater 20 minute shoot, consisting of blowing groups of bubbles to herd fish to tuck tight into the fan coral, then holding my breath until most all air bubbles had dissipate, then snaping away for 15 seconds intervals up until the fish returned in view swarming the edges of the fan coral.

- The next vast ocean to navigate will be the sky itself. After being frisked by park police and proving that I was indeed photographing and nothing else I snapped this 30 second exposure of the Hatteras Lighthouse as the Milky Way came into view at about 3:50 AM. (The picture was taken with a Canon EOS 7D digital camera, EF-S10-22mm lens at 12mm, exposure at 30 sec, f/3.5, ISO 2000, minor color correction and noise reduction applied)

- field_caption
- 'The little red house' was captured on the Lofoten Islands at the beginning of the darkness period. In summer the sun shines above the little house for 24 hours, in winter it is surrounded by natures most beautiful twilight before standing in complete darkness for most of the day and night. And yet the house shines bright and gives out the feeling of warmth and home, no matter what time of the day or year it is.

- This photo captures a moment of tension in the ultra modern MAXXI Museum designed by Zaha Hadid and recently built in the eternal city of Rome. The juxtaposition of the minimalist architecture and the provocative red element with the unsuspecting person below creates a tension as eternal as the history of Rome. This is an composition of space tie and architecture.
