- As the Photographic Specialist at Auburn University at Montgomery, I went to an annual photo conference, this year in Utah. After attending the week long University Photographers' Association of America Technical Symposium at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, I caught my connecting flight back to Montgomery in Dallas from Salt Lake City, Saturday, June 25. After we left the airport and headed East I was astonished at the bright evening lights in Dallas. It was an instant photographic opportunity.

- Lanyon Quoit, Cornwall, UK, taken not long after sunset, the quoit and ground is lit by moonlight. Quoits are ancient burial sites and are confined in the UK to west Cornwall. I have used a timelapse approach here to emphasise the passage of time to the ancient stones monuments.

- It was another cold day in Budapest at the very start of 2011. I've been to Hungary many times and after quite a few years of incredible growth, the country seems to be at a bit of a crossroads. Indeed a recent survey showed that 'life satisfaction' levels have declined recently in Hungary, sliding further than their neighbours in the region.

- It was about 5pm and I was waiting by the road side for the farmers to return home with their flock. I was busy capturing the shepherds and their sheep and when I turned back to the other side of the road I saw this beautiful sight. A man going home on a donkey back. I was glad that I captured this before the vehicles came by.

- Today Syria has been torn of such beauty. The conflict stricken country has banned photographers from being able to take picture of this gorgeous city. Perched on a rock a young man views the landscape of Damascus, ignorant to what the future holds for this historic city. Syria today is dark and lost, the serene emotions of this picture may never be felt again. But as the young man symbolizes, their is hope for the future.

- In the midst of the night, on the second day after arriving at our ger camp, I set up a tripod to capture the night sky. While doing so, my headlamp spotted an incredible sight - a still image from what appeared to be an old black and white film, only the still was printed on a giant 8 foot by 4 foot piece of canvas and framed with a 2 foot wooden frame. I knew it had to be in my Mongolian Night sky.
