- Here on my first time visit to Crater Lake National Park, I wanted to leave with an image that I could look back on and remember the experience. I was with a friend taking pictures also, and before I took the picture, I called over to him and said, "Hey man, watch this!" With a laugh, I spread my arms out and fell backwards into the snow. A second later, the camera timer clicked the shutter and the long exposure began. After the shutter clicked back closed, I stayed on the ground for a good while staring up mesmerized by all the sparkling stars overhead.

- This was taken at Piazza della Repubblica, Florence. The carousel, I believe, is a permanent fixture in the square, and it made for an excellent subject, so I thought a long exposure would bring out the movement and character for the location. I wasn't disappointed. Converted the photo to black and white in post-production.

- The photo is somewhat of an illusion because of the way I shot it. Although the ice block in the foreground looks massive compared to the man and his dog, the actual size of the ice was only 1 ft high. The small block of ice was only a small piece of a much larger ice sculpture replica of the Great Wall in China. The early morning light shining through the ice turned the simple scene into a magical landscape for me. It was really one of those wonderful surprises you don’t expect when your editing a photo shoot and one of the reasons I ‘m still nuts about shooting photos.

- It was a hard day of cycling on a 80km long gravel road on the South Island of New Zealand. After setting up the tent I choose to capture the mystical Hidden Burn River Valley about one hour after moonrise. The full moon was pretty bright which gave the feeling it would be at daytime. I love the feeling of being sinking in the photograph.

- A Tibetan Chinese Buddhist comes to the end of her long pilgrimage to the Sertri Gompa temple, made in a series of devotional prostrations, on December 6, 2010 in Langmusi, a village on the border of China's Sichuan and Gansu provinces. Believers such as these often take many months to cover the distance of their pilgrimage. They advance forward by lowering themselves to the ground, extending themselves and marking their reach, scrambling to their feet to walk to their mark, and repeating the whole process all day long.

- We were walking along 5th Avenue, enjoying the storefronts, when the reflections of the buildings across the street came alive in the windows. This image seems to depict the excitement, amazing architecture and American spirit of Manhattan.

- As I remain here, floating gently in space on the path to Going Home, I remind myself that I alone chose this mission. I could have been sipping cosmic cappuccinos in the gift shop, but no. I chose a different path. My path. With one foot forward I step onto the escalator of my destiny; going home on the path unknown, slowly climbing, moving closer and closer to the next phase of my mission...
