- I took, printed and presented a family photo of a lovely but impoverished group of people in Cambodia who were receiving a helping hand in life, having a house built for them by some volunteers. Hours later when the excitement had returned to the house building, I noticed one of the children sitting in a corner on their own, photo in hand.

- This man makes hundreds of teas per day. He spends his days in a tiny shack, where he makes hundreds of teas a day. A customer just walked in and the Chai Wallah glanced to look, as he was pouring the tea in one of the 30 clay cups arranged in front of him. His intense expression caught in this moment is what I like the most about his photo. This is one of the series that I took of him at work.

- A man feeds a flock of pigeons at downtown Vancouver B.C. Canada. While walking in downtown, I saw a man whistle with a bag of seeds. He was instantly surrounded by over 20 pigeons, some of them landing on his arms and head. He spoke soflty to them while feeding them. Once the frenzy was over, the birds flew away and he walked away...

- This picture was taken in Cutud, San Fernando for the celebration of Holy Week in Philippines last April 22, 2011 (Holy Friday). Not only filipinos but many foreigners have attended and watched this unusual parade. Upon doing this unusual parade, these men will have stop over in each church to pray for their sins. They usually lay down facing the floor to ask for forgiveness while some people will whip their back.

- A coffee farmer in Nicaragua battles poverty by running her roadside store. "If I can send a message, I would tell them about what happens here, the poverty. In the time of vaca flaca, we suffer. And maybe with the help of the buyers, we could prosper. We live in the darkness, but if they see this and give us help, we can get out of the darkness and into the light. We'd be able take a breath. We're tired of struggling to have to be able to get enough for our kids. And not even the ample amount of nutrition, we have to do with little, barely enough for food."

- During Ramadan, when Muslim people fast from sunrise till sunset for a month, I visited the biggest mosques of Istanbul, to photograph people. This photo was taken at Sultanahmet Mosque, aka Blue Mosque, after dinner time, in the women's section. It is common that women worship upstairs, and men gather downstairs. Although downstairs is open to everyone, upstairs is for women only. Within the women's area, in a private section, I saw these two young girls, reading the Qur'an. They did not realize I was photographing them, they looked almost in trans.

- While traveling through Andarai, Bahia, we met a group of women in white piling into an SUV. After a few inquiries we were invited to their home to observe a ceremony of Jaré, the local version of Candomblé. A beautiful experience of dancing, drumming and family, with all of us crammed into a small room together photographing as they swirled in circles to the sounds of Candomblé. This image was taken in the time waiting for others to arrive so they could begin.

- This photograph was taken at a Baiju Temple in Gyantse, Tibet. This gentleman had entered the stupa to make an offering of yak butter. A group of us waited in the dark, hoping to get a good shot of someone in the light. His face was lit on his right by candle light and on his left by outdoor light. It was a perfect moment and I felt very lucky to have captured this image!
