Real Travel columnist and Traveler contributing editor Daisann McLane is an award-winning travel writer and photographer. The North American Travel Journalists Association recently voted McLane "Travel Columnist of the Year." Her book, Cheap Hotels (Taschen) won the Lowell Thomas Gold Award for best travel book. She was the New York Times' Frugal Travel columnist for six years and has written about travel, culture, food, and politics for numerous publications including the International Herald Tribune, Travel + Leisure, Departures, Slate.com, Conde Nast Traveler, Rolling Stone, and Vogue.
McLane splits her time between Hong Kong and Brooklyn, New York.
