Mulafossur Waterfall, Faroe Islands, 2014The Faroe Islands are, for their size, incredibly geographically diverse. Located almost dead center between Iceland, Norway, and the U.K., they seem to compress a lot of the best elements of each of those places into just over 500 square miles (spread across 18 islands). Traveling to the Faroes can take up to a full day, depending on where you’re coming from, but it’s well worth it. I could spend weeks exploring the individual islands. In addition to the breathtaking landscape, the islands provide some pretty epic surf!
